This poem for me is like my baby. It’s a snapshot of my life in 4 pages, or 7 minutes, of a poem. I use the song “You are my sunshine,” as a way to break it up and segway into different parts of my life. It’s a song that my mother used to sing to me growing up and it’s now a song that I sing to my son. I dedicate this poem to my son because he is my WHY. He was the catalyst for me wanting to change my life so that he could have a better chance at life than I did. This poem was HEALING and therapeutic for me. I hope it can be fore someone else too.
